We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to oversee, maintain, and improve the mechanical systems of a vacuum-coated glass production line. The ideal candidate will have experience in high-vacuum systems, automation, and precision machinery. You will be responsible for ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and implementing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
What You Will Do
- Perform mechanical maintenance of vacuum coating equipment including magnetron sputtering systems, pumps, chillers, conveyors, and handling systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical failures on vacuum chambers, loading/unloading systems, and glass transport mechanisms.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance (PM) schedules for all mechanical equipment in the coating line.
- Support production by minimizing unplanned downtime and ensuring maximum equipment availability.
- Monitor equipment performance and participate in root cause analysis (RCA) for chronic mechanical failures.
- Maintain documentation including maintenance logs, failure reports, and equipment manuals.
- Collaborate with electrical, automation, and process engineers to optimize line performance.
- Recommend and implement mechanical design improvements for reliability and efficiency.
- Maintain spare parts inventory and liaise with vendors for critical mechanical components.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and standard operating procedures.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in glass processing, coating, or high-vacuum equipment.
Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of vacuum technology (e.g., rotary pumps, turbo pumps, diffusion pumps).
- Experience with HVAC systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and industrial automation.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and equipment manuals.
- Familiarity with CMMS software (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo) is an advantage.
- Knowledge of glass handling, coating line mechanics, and material transport systems.
Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and in rotating shifts (if required).
What Will Put You Ahead
- Experience in glass coating (architectural, automotive, or solar) industries.
- Familiarity with PLC-controlled systems.
- Certification in maintenance reliability or vibration analysis is a plus.
Working Conditions
- Factory-based role with exposure to heat, noise, and high-vacuum environments.
- May require working in shifts or on-call during emergencies.
- Use of PPE and adherence to strict safety protocols is mandatory.
