Job description
The Engineer Steel Unit is responsible for managing the technical and operational aspects of reinforcing steel (rebar)
cutting, bending, and fabrication for construction projects. This role integrates structural engineering knowledge
with hands-on expertise to ensure precise rebar detailing, efficient production, and timely delivery. The engineer
ensures that all processes comply with relevant codes and standards, supports quality assurance, and contributes to
seamless project execution by coordinating with design, production, and site teams.
9. Principal Accountabilities:
Policies, Processes & Procedures
- Adhere to organizational policies and procedures to ensure compliance and maintain a productive work
environment.
- Implement and uphold safety and security protocols to protect the well-being of all employees and company
assets.
Rebar Design & Detailing
Interpret architectural and structural blueprints to determine rebar requirements, including quantities,
dimensions, bends, and placements.
2. Develop detailed rebar cutting and bending schedules.
3. Review and approve rebar shop drawings to verify the given measurement.
Machinery Operation & Work Order Management
Select and oversee the use of rebar cutting/bending machinery (e.g., Bench Cutting & Bending Machine) for
precision and efficiency and allocate the work order.
2. Extract Oracle Requests and assign work orders, optimizing production workflow and update in the system.
3. Manage the operation process in steelyard.
Inspection & Compliance
Conduct inspections to ensure rebar cutting and bending meet specifications, such as lap lengths, bend radii,
and cover distances.
2. Document rebar quantities, installation progress, and deviations for compliance reporting.
3. Ensure all the delivery of rebars as per the drawing.
Safety & Training
Enforce safety protocols, including proper equipment handling and adherence to OSHA guidelines.
Train technicians on machinery operation and safety practices.
Miscellaneous Duties:
- Perform additional duties as needed to support the team and overall business objectives.
Job requirements
Required Academic Qualification
11. Qualification Bachelor’s degree
12. Category Civil / Structural Engineering or related field
13. Other Requirements
- Should Have knowledge in precast detailing, connection design, and erection procedures
- Familiarity in ACI 318, CRSI standards, and CAD tools
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, OTP Arma CAD) and rebar detailing tools
14. Years of Experience
- 5-6 years in rebar design, construction, or fabrication
