Job Purpose
- To operate and maintain heavy equipment, particularly excavators, for efficient and precise handling of materials such as sand, molds, and other components required for casting processes as well as all excavator’s work for other shops.
- The role is essential for executing excavation, loading, shaping, and trenching tasks within the casting shop, ensuring production efficiency and adherence to safety and quality standards
Job Responsibilities
- Operate excavators and other heavy equipment to perform precise molding-related tasks, including sand preparation, mold shaping, and material transport.
- Execute excavation activities necessary for pit molding, trenching, and all shop’s production functions.
- Safely load, unload, and transport raw materials, molds, and finished cast components
- Perform regular checks and basic maintenance on the excavator to ensure optimal operational conditions, including cleaning and lubrication.
- Assist with sand handling, filling, compacting, and leveling for mold preparations.
- Coordinate with casting, melting, and pattern shop teams to meet production schedules.
- Follow work instructions, safety regulations, and environmental procedures to prevent hazards
- Ensure accurate and careful excavation to maintain the integrity of molds and surrounding work areas.
- Maintain daily activity logs, including equipment usage and maintenance records.
- Support other production and material handling activities as required by supervisors
Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience as an excavator operator, preferably in a manufacturing, foundry, or industrial environment.
Certification: Valid heavy equipment operation license or excavator operator certification.
- Strong understanding of mold preparation and casting processes.
- Familiarity with safety protocols in industrial or foundry environments.
- Basic maintenance and troubleshooting skills for heavy equipment.
