About the Job:
We are seeking a highly experienced and technically strong Senior Civil Engineer (Design) to join our engineering consultancy team. This role is key to the success of large-scale Thermal Power Projects, where you'll be responsible for delivering robust, compliant, and cost-effective civil design solutions. The ideal candidate will have in-depth experience in civil/structural design within the power generation sector, strong leadership abilities, and a track record of working in a consultant capacity.
Key Responsibilities/Deliverables:
- Lead civil and structural design activities for major thermal power plant projects from concept through detailed design to IFC stage.
- Prepare and review technical deliverables including structural calculations, design reports, construction drawings, and technical specifications.
- Oversee the development of designs for foundations, buildings, tanks, underground utilities, drainage systems, roads, and other plant-related structures.
- Ensure compliance with international codes and standards (e.g., ACI, BS, Eurocode, ASTM).
- Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and architectural disciplines for seamless design integration.
- Conduct technical reviews of vendor and contractor submittals to ensure conformity with project requirements.
- Participate in value engineering and design optimization processes.
- Support construction teams with technical clarifications, site visits, and problem resolution as needed.
- Mentor junior engineers and actively contribute to technical knowledge sharing.
- Participate in client and stakeholder meetings, providing expert input on civil/structural matters.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Minimum 15 years of relevant experience, specifically in the design and engineering of large thermal power projects.
- Prior experience working as a consultant is mandatory.
- Thorough knowledge of international design standards and codes (e.g., ACI, AISC, BS, Eurocodes).
- Proficient in civil and structural design software such as STAAD.Pro, ETABS, SAP2000, AutoCAD, and others.
- Strong command of MS Office tools and familiarity with Management Information Systems (MIS).
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities with experience managing cross-functional teams.
Language Proficiency Requirements:
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written) is required.
Knowledge and Functional Competencies:
- Expertise in civil/structural design for industrial and power plant facilities.
- Strong knowledge of foundation design for heavy equipment and dynamic loads.
- Proficiency in design review and quality assurance procedures.
- Familiarity with project management and reporting tools.
- Capable of producing high-quality deliverables under tight deadlines.
- Effective communicator with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and committed to engineering excellence.
