The Civil Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for civil engineering projects by analyzing tender documents, drawings, and technical specifications. This role involves preparing detailed BOQs, evaluating direct and indirect costs, and collaborating with suppliers and internal teams to ensure the submission of competitive and comprehensive technical and financial proposals.
Detailed Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyze tender documents (RFPs, RFQs), drawings, and project specifications.
- Prepare detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQ) based on construction and shop drawings.
- Estimate civil works such as excavation, backfilling, concrete, asphalt, steel structures, fencing, external utilities.
- Use cost estimation tools like Excel, Candy, and Planswift.
- Review and verify quantities with the technical office.
- Analyze direct and indirect costs including labor, materials, equipment, and logistics.
- Coordinate with suppliers for material quotations and ensure compliance with project specs.
- Prepare rate analysis for each BOQ item.
- Evaluate project risks and incorporate them into the pricing model.
- Generate cost comparison reports and support contract negotiations.
- Coordinate with planning team to develop preliminary project schedules.
- Update cost databases based on market trends and past project performance.
- Analyze deviations between estimated and actual project costs.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and coordinate with clients or consultants.
- Support the contracts and finance teams in final proposal submissions.
