We are looking for a creative bakery/pastry sous chef to be responsible for crafting delicious desserts and confectionery, designing seasonal menus, and developing new recipes for the bakery/pastry section of our kitchen. You should be passionate about baking and be inspired to create masterpieces that go beyond our customers’ expectations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare a wide variety of goods such as cakes, cookies, pies, bread etc. following traditional and modern recipes.
- Create new and exciting desserts to renew our menus and engage the interest of customers.
- Decorate pastries using different icings; toppings etc. to ensure the presentation will be beautiful and exciting.
- Monitor stocks for baking ingredients such as flour, sugar etc. and make appropriate orders within budget.
- Check quality of material and condition of equipment and devices used for cooking.
- Identify staffing needs and help recruit and train personnel.
- Maintain a lean and orderly cooking station and adhere to health and safety standards.
- Inspect the quality of the ingredients and measure them for specific recipes.
- Establish a budget for ingredient purchase.
- Ensure that the kitchen equipment is in good conditions and meets all requirements.
- Organize the kitchen staff and supervise while working.
- Train the kitchen staff to meet imposed standards.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as bakery/Pastry Chef or similar role.
- Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, or relevant field
- Experience in leading teams and managing multiple sections of the kitchen
- Proven ability in kitchen management
- Skilled in dividing responsibilities and monitoring progress
- Outstanding communication and leadership skills
- Up-to-date with culinary trends and optimized kitchen processes
- In-depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation, and nutrition.
- Flexible working hours, including weekends and evenings, when necessary.
- Capable of working in a fast-paced, production environment
