The Mechanical In-Charge is responsible for planning, managing, and executing all mechanical maintenance activities to ensure maximum equipment uptime, reliability, and safety. The role involves supervision of the maintenance team, preventive and breakdown maintenance, inventory management, and compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise the mechanical maintenance team for daily, preventive, and breakdown maintenance activities.
- Plan and implement preventive maintenance schedules to reduce downtime and improve machine reliability.
- Troubleshoot mechanical faults and coordinate timely repair and corrective actions.
- Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of mechanical systems such as pumps, compressors, conveyors, gearboxes, boilers, etc.
- Monitor and optimize the performance of critical mechanical equipment.
- Maintain spare parts inventory and ensure timely procurement in coordination with the purchase department.
- Maintain proper documentation of all maintenance activities, records, and reports.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company maintenance procedures.
- Support new equipment installation, commissioning, and mechanical project execution.
- Coordinate with other departments (electrical, production, quality, etc.) for smooth operations.
- Train and develop maintenance technicians and ensure team performance meets set KPIs.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 8-10 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setup.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Good understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance systems (TPM/RCM).
- Proficiency in reading technical drawings and manuals.
- Hands-on experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) is a plus.
- Leadership and team management skills.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
