Job Summary:
Issue testing reports, coordinate construction testing activities with technicians and clients and ensure all testing are performed according to required specifications.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Managerial Duties:
- Implement section’s policies, goals, objectives and procedures and support in their development as needed.
- Support Senior Engineer/Department Manager in the implementation of operations plans, policies, procedures, and transition/migration plans.
Technical Skills
- Respond to customers’ inquiries concerning testing progress and reporting.
- Prepare and initially check material testing reports prior to their submission for approval by the Materials Department Manager.
- Follow-up laboratory tests of various construction materials including soil, aggregate, concrete, asphalt, steel, tile, kerbstone ...etc.
- Analyze test data and conduct corrective action to prevent non-conforming products.
- Set materials testing schedules and supervise work performed by materials testing technicians.
- Conduct materials testing and special inspection reports and communicate results to Department Manager, client, contractor and other relevant parties.
- Ensure tests are carried out in accordance with relevant standard test methods and according to agreed customers’ requirements.
- Conduct analysis as required after receiving tests results from technicians, and ensure it compliance with national and international standards.
- Ensure all site equipment and instruments are fit for use by provision of necessary resources for the implementation of calibration and maintenance programs.
- Ensure proper implementation of safety regulations and protection measures are taken in the lab.
- Receive and inspect material samples delivered to the Laboratory.
- Perform review of related orders and ensure all the required information is clear and available.
- Ensure proper storage of received samples, maintain and record specified sample storage conditions, if any, curing and ambient temperature.
- Prepare Sample Disposal Schedule on bi-weekly basis and in coordination with Lab Supervisor and follow up sample disposal and maintain related records.
- Prepare MS & special test reports in coordination with the Sr. Civil Engineer & Department Manager.
- Monitor the productivity of the data entries reports on daily basis.
- Any duties or responsibilities assigned by the management.
Reporting To:
This position will directly report to the Materials Department Manager/ Material Section Head.
Job Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or any related field.
- 0-2 years of experience in the field of Civil Engineering.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Building Codes (i.e., ACI, UBC & SBC) and Specifications
- Various testing method knowledge (i.e., ASTM, BS, AASHTO, ANSI and CIRIA) and Local or International Standards
- Measurement, Basic Technical and Laboratory Skills.
- Fundamentals of Mathematics, Calculations, Statistics and Data Analysis.
- Knowledge of ISO 17025/9001/45001/14001 requirements.
- Fundamentals of Materials Science.
- Materials Tests.
- Materials Testing Procedures.
- Operation and Use of Materials Testing Equipment.
- Occupational Safety.
