Role Purpose
To run and maintain the cybersecurity operations of IT networks by deploying, monitoring, and optimizing network infrastructure and protocols. This role ensures the protection and compliance of IT networks, supports incident response, and continuously improves security to safeguard critical infrastructure and data assets.
Key Accountability Areas
Key Activities
IT Network Cybersecurity
- Provide engineering support for IT network cybersecurity operations, including the deployment, operation, maintenance, and full documentation of network security tools.
- Maintain the cybersecurity of IT network environments throughout their lifecycle, from deployment to decommissioning, ensuring protection, compliance, and risk management.
- Maintain and secure network infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, routers, and VPNs, ensuring optimal configurations for cybersecurity.
- Implement and maintain Network Access Control (NAC) solutions and enforce strict network segmentation for security.
- Monitor and secure IT network communication protocols, such as SNMP, DNS, and NTP, to ensure secure data transmission and network performance.
- Translate IT cybersecurity standards and policies (e.g., ISO 27001:2013, NIST CSF, PCI DSS) into actionable network security controls and ensure their implementation.
Cybersecurity Architecture
- Assist in developing IT network cybersecurity strategies focused on protecting the organization’s network infrastructure and data assets.
- Participate in the identification, evaluation, and integration of network systems, tools, and processes aligned with best practices to enhance IT network security.
- Stay up to date on the latest trends and technologies in network security to ensure continuous improvement of the organization’s cybersecurity infrastructure.
Cybersecurity Operations
- Continuously monitor and enforce cybersecurity controls to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, availability, and accountability of IT networks, while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
- Facilitate network cybersecurity awareness initiatives and provide training to stakeholders on best practices for IT network security.
- Conduct regular cybersecurity assessments, including network penetration testing, vulnerability management, and other preventive interventions, to maintain and improve IT network security.
- Ensure adherence to IT network cybersecurity incident management guidelines, including proper reporting, escalation, and resolution of network-related incidents.
Policies, Processes, and Procedures
- Perform daily network-related activities while ensuring compliance with organizational policies, processes, and procedures.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in IT network systems and processes, considering leading practices, changes in business environments, cost reduction, and productivity improvement.
Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum 6 years experience in Network Security, Cybersecurity, or a related field with a focus on IT networks and infrastructure.
Education and Certifications
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline is required.
- One certification in Network Security tools is required . Examples include: CySA+, NSE 4, Splunk Core, CCNA/CCNP, GSEC, and BTL1.
