Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to oversee our financial operations and ensure compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in both non-profit and governmental accounting, along with expertise in financial management and reporting. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent analytical skills who can effectively manage cash flow, budgeting, and financial forecasting.
Duties
- Oversee all aspects of accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger accounting.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, IFRS, SOX, and other regulatory requirements.
- Prepare accurate financial reports and statements for internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and account reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.
- Manage cash flow and develop strategies for effective cash management.
- Lead the budgeting process, including forecasting and variance analysis.
- Provide technical accounting guidance to staff and ensure adherence to financial concepts.
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero for efficient financial management.
- Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making processes within the organization.
- Collaborate with external auditors during the audit process to ensure compliance with all regulations.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Controller or in a similar financial leadership role within non-profit or governmental sectors.
- Strong knowledge of public accounting principles and practices.
- Proficient in financial report writing and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Experience with double entry bookkeeping and general ledger reconciliation.
- Familiarity with cash management techniques and financial software applications.
- Excellent financial acumen with the ability to analyze complex financial data effectively.
