Position Overview: Done by Native is seeking highly skilled Arabic–English Translators and Interpreters. This role involves consecutive and simultaneous interpretation, written translation, voice-over translation, and bilingual administrative support in both Gulf Arabic and English. Services will support training courses, events, meetings, and other official communications.
Please note this position is for an anticipated future contract and is not yet funded.
Key Responsibilities
- Written Translation
- Translate course materials from English to Gulf Arabic (and occasionally vice versa) using the same format as the source material (typically Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint).
- Produce accurate, error-free translations delivered according to deadlines specified in task orders.
- Classroom Interpretation
- Provide consecutive interpretation during training courses and facilitate interaction between instructors and students.
- Interpret for courses that may run from 1–5 weeks, up to 8 hours daily, at any time of day.
- Event & Meeting Interpretation
- Perform consecutive and simultaneous interpretation for meetings, conferences, and other official events.
- Adapt language use for important officials and sensitive or technical topics.
- Voice-over Translation
- Provide professional voice-over translation for audio-visual materials without degrading audio/video quality.
- Use the provided equipment and software.
- Bilingual Administrative Support
- Provide clerical and translation/interpretation support, including short consecutive interpretation for daily interactions.
- Terminology & Cultural Expertise
- Maintain thorough knowledge of Saudi and U.S. cultural contexts, geography, and relevant government structures.
- Bridge terminology gaps and adapt to differing systems and methodologies.
- Professional Standards
- Maintain clarity, accuracy, and a professional, poised delivery in all interpreting assignments.
- Adhere to protocol and confidentiality requirements.
Qualifications
- Education
- Native Arabic speakers: Secondary education diploma (KSA or equivalent) and completion of professional interpreter/translator training.
- Non-native speakers: Bachelor’s degree in Arabic language studies and completion of professional interpreter/translator training.
- Language Proficiency
- Full professional proficiency (ILR Level 3 or higher) in English and Gulf Arabic.
- Strong command of terminology across multiple fields.
- Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in translation and/or consecutive/simultaneous interpretation.
- Prior work with government, military, or technical subject matter preferred.
- Skills
- Excellent cultural competence for both Saudi Arabia and the United States.
- Ability to perform instant analysis and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Additional Requirements
- Ability to pass background checks.
- Willingness to travel within Saudi Arabia for assignments.
