Job Description
The Pricing & Market Access Ass. Director is responsible for leading the development and/or execution of pre- and post-launch Market Access strategies for one or more products, as well as partnering cross-functionally with various local/regional and International HQ teams.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Strategic planning & pre-launch activities
- Works closely with International Market Access & Pricing to develop, assess and implement market access strategies for pipeline/pre-launch products to support value and access optimization and formulary inclusion
- Conducts pricing and access landscape assessments, identifies potential reimbursement barriers, opportunities and proposes solutions.
- Leads payers’ education on the burden of the disease, unmet medical needs and clinical and economic value of assigned product/s.
- Leads development of local Market Access strategies and creation of core access value messages and deliverables to support local value and access optimization
- Leads the pricing and access component of local launch readiness ensuring that the payer position is consistently represented to internal cross-functional stakeholders and ensures robust strategic input into commercialization and development decisions
Evidence generation and value communication
- Partners cross-functionally with HEOR & Int. Market Access to ensure robust dossier and integrated evidence plans are optimized to support market access and reimbursement in Saudi Arabia/GCC
- Leads the development of Saudi/GCC value dossiers and pre-launch plans ensuring local strategies are supported with deep functional knowledge, in-depth market research, environmental data & analogues
- Informs financial forecasts and launch planning
- Works on the execution and negotiation of pricing and access strategy, including the localization of access strategy, economic models and pricing business cases
- Supports capability building and thought leadership projects that advance knowledge of and readiness for the rapidly evolving payer environment.
- Collaborates closely with HEOR, Pricing & Market Access, Government Affairs and Public Policy, Marketing and Clinical Development / Medical counterparts to ensure value and access optimization
Required Education Level
- Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline
Required Experience
- At least 10 years of pre-and post-launch Market Access experience in KSA or other GCC markets; depth of experience in pre-launch strategy and tactical implementation will be an advantage
- In depth understanding of the local pharmaceutical market, pricing and reimbursement and outcomes research
- Experience in Market Access for CGT in KSA/GCC required; experience in the Diabetes therapy area would be an advantage.
Required Knowledge/Skills
- Excellent command in reading, writing and speaking Arabic and English
- Ability to think strategically and make sound pricing and market access recommendations
- Experience conducting negotiations with external stakeholders
- Strong practical, quantitative and analytical skills combined with a sound understanding of how to successfully apply pricing & reimbursement / HEOR principles to support Vertex
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively write and deliver presentations to professionals at all levels within Vertex
- Relationship building at all levels of the organization and across geographies
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with local network market access decision makers
- Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate complex concepts and negotiate with others
