Job Description Summary
As a Molecular Genetics Consultant, he/she will be responsible to provide genetic diagnostic tests and consultative services to physicians and patients and responsible for the overall development of clinical metabolic biochemical, molecular and oncology genetics.

- Participate in establishing new key performance indicators that monitors and improve operational performance in order to meet organizational strategic objectives.
- Participate in the annual quality management system evaluation, writing new operational manuals.
- Participate in the establishment or verification of laboratory test performance specifications and selection of test methodology as well as the enrollment and participation in proficiency testing
- Participate in the establishment of a quality control program to monitor ongoing test performance

- Provides high-quality molecular genetics care to patients in this area of medicine.
- Compile with the joint Commission International (JCI), American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), College of American Pathologists (CAP), Saudi Central Board for Accreditation of Health care Institutions (CBAHI), ISO 15189, Laboratory and hospital Standards.
- Evaluates, updates, and develops new Laboratory tests/ techniques in clinical metabolic biochemical genetics molecular/genomic related to metabolic pathology. Familiar with molecular techniques and related bioinformatic analysis of metabolic biochemical genetics.
- Actively participates in the training and teaching of staff, medical technology students, interns, residents, fellows and PH.D students in his area of expertise and participates in research activities.
- Plan, design, and implement biochemical genetics high-throughput various laboratory techniques.
- Participates in committees and other administrative functions as needed.
- Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance, or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify laboratory management.
- Collaborate with pathologists and consultants in interpretation of test results and troubleshooting technical issues.
- Manage laboratory supplies, reagents, and equipment relevant to the genetics section.
- Prepares genetic standard operating procedures (SOPs), documentation logs, and laboratory manuals.
- Follows all hospital policies and biosafety regulations applicable to the genetic laboratory.
- Participates in committees and departmental meetings as required.
- Ensure to take & document all corrective actions that are taken when test systems deviate from JHAH laboratory’s established performance specifications.
Minimum Education Required
PhD holder; Doctoral Scientist in Molecular Genetic or equivalent science, with specialized training and/or appropriate experience.
Professional Certifications Required
SCFHS Classification and Saudi MOH Licensed American Pathologist Board of Certification (BOC) ASCP or equivalent is required.
For MD :American Board, UK, Canadian, Saudi Board/Arab Board or other equivalent international board/ Fellowship.
Years of Experience
Minimum 16 years’ experience in a licensed Medical facility/Clinical laboratory as Lab Medical Technologist/Clinical Laboratory Specialist/ Clinical Lab Technology consultant including minimum 3-4 years Post Board/Fellowship in specialty.
Minimum of 2 years experience in a CAP accredited laboratory after PH. D certification; this may include subspeciality training in metabolic Biochemical Genetic services.
