JOB PURPOSE
BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.

To carry out Mechanical aircraft maintenance activities and supervise the Consolidation Training of assigned RSAF Technicians and Saudi National BAE Systems Trainees in support of the RSAF Typhoon Flying programme. Generating aircraft to achieve the contracted Operational Ready Rates in accordance with best industry practice, BAE Systems procedures, the Maintenance Organisation Exposition and the RSAF Regulatory Framework. Deputise for the Typhoon Maintenance – Mechanical Senior Supervisor during periods of absence.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
Carrying out Mechanical aircraft maintenance activities including detailed troubleshooting and rectification.
Carrying out flight line duties as directed.
Raising Technical Publication Review Forms (TPRF) against approved data.
Assisting with raising Technical Requests (TRs) for any aircraft related anomalies.
Supporting the work centre Supervisor in ensuring shift handovers are accurate.
Adhering to tool control procedures.
Adhering to the use of only approved data.
Providing and supervising consolidation training and mentoring to assigned RSAF personnel leading to the award of 1st signature (Technician).
Providing training guidance and mentoring of nominated RSAF personnel leading to the award of 2nd (Supervisor) signature.
Providing supervisory 2nd Signature (over sign) for engineering and maintenance tasks carried out by the RSAF in support of consolidation training on operational aircraft.
Maintaining accurate logbooks for the assigned RSAF technician.
Liaising with RSAF and BAE Systems management to identify any training opportunities or to highlight any potential training shortfalls.
Supporting the production of monthly progress reports to identify training progression.
Obtaining the appropriate licence and authorisations to operate, support and task vehicles of various types, and tow aircraft and support equipment.
Acting as fleet vehicle custodian if directed by maintenance management.
Assisting the training cell by providing additional training and supervision to RSAF and BAE Systems personnel (to include but not limited to) Flight Line servicing, aircraft tow duties etc.
Providing trade cover for the flight line hit team troubleshooting and fixing crew in faults.
Undertaking independent inspections of Safety Critical Systems (3rd Signature responsibility) in the absence of the Senior Supervisor.
Deputising for the work centre trade supervisor during periods of annual leave or absence.
Carrying out aircrew post flight de-briefs as required.
Training RSAF personnel in the role of Supervisor.
Undertaking any task deemed to be reasonable, within the scope of the mechanical aircraft trade, as directed by Senior Supervisors and line management.
Demonstrating certain behaviours in all the work undertaken and in interactions with other maintenance personnel in line with M&CA People Behaviours BAESKSA-ENG-MCA-GOV-005.
Supporting and participating in the reporting of ALL Product Safety & Environmental occurrences, promoting a Just Culture, providing a working environment of trust where all employees have a clear understanding of behaviour standards.
Promoting and supporting the Salam Operations Quality Management System by understanding the requirements of AS9110.
Promotion of customer focus throughout the organisation whilst recognising and highlighting opportunities for continuous improvement.
Essential
Have substantial post qualification experience in practical maintenance within an operational flying aircraft environment supported by formal recorded workplace applied related training OR experience on same aircraft type.
Holds 2nd signature.
Leadership skills and proven ability to supervise all levels of engineering personnel.
A recognised qualification to NVQ3/ONC/OND/BTEC level in a relevant technical discipline, or a technical apprenticeship, or suitable equivalent technical qualification acceptable to M&CA
OR
Part 66 licensed (current or lapsed), or suitable equivalent technical license acceptable to M&CA.
And
Relevant type training (‘Q’ Course) and equipment specific training if required.
Desirable
Have experience working knowledge of EASA Part 145 & 147.
Thorough understanding of company processes and procedures.
Broad aerospace and defence company / industry knowledge.
Proven supervisory experience within the area of definition.
