Job Summary
The Steward at Gelato store plays a crucial role in ensuring that the store runs smoothly by maintaining cleanliness, assisting customers, and supporting the daily operations of the store. They are responsible for keeping the workspace organized, ensuring high standards of hygiene, and contributing to a positive customer experience.
1.1 Skill requirements:
Customer Service Support:
Ø Greet customers with a friendly and welcoming attitude.
Ø Assist customers with menu options and help them choose Gelato flavors, toppings, and combinations.
Ø Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and special requests professionally and promptly.
Ø Cleaning and Sanitation:
Ø Ensure store is clean and sanitized at all times, including counters, tables, floors, and equipment.
Ø Follow health and safety regulations to maintain a clean environment.
Ø Clean and sanitize utensils, dispensers, and machines after each use.
Ø Manage waste disposal and ensure trash bins are emptied regularly.
Ø Assisting with Gelato Preparation:
Ø Support the Gelato preparation process by assisting with scooping, blending, or serving when needed.
Ø Ensure that all servings are accurately portioned and presented attractively.
Ø Cash Handling:
Ø Ensure that accurate cash handling and transactions are maintained during the shift.
Ø Shift, six (6) days per week, including nights, weekends, and holidays is preferred.
1.2 Tools & technology (examples in parentheses)
Ø Cleaning Tools & Supplies:
– Food-safe disinfectants, degreasers, and sanitizing solutions
– Mops, brushes, gloves, aprons, and color-coded cloths
Ø Waste Management:
– Segregated bins (organic, recyclable, non-recyclable)
– Waste tracking logs (manual or digital)
Ø Health & Safety Monitoring:
Ø HACCP checklists and daily sanitation records
Qualifications and Experience
A minimum of Requirements:
Ø Previous experience in a stewarding, cleaning, or kitchen support role preferred.
Ø Basic understanding of hygiene and sanitation practices.
Ø Physically fit and able to stand for long periods and lift light loads.
Ø Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to help.
Ø Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Ø High School / Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Hospitality, or a related field.
Ø 1+ years of experience in multi-store operations (preferably in QSR, cafes, or premium F&B brands).
Ø Strong financial acumen and ability to drive performance metrics.
Ø Good communication skills and a positive, friendly attitude.
Ø Fluent in English; Arabic is an advantage.
