ROLE OVERVIEW
The Façade Project Director oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of façade works for large-scale construction or refurbishment projects. This leadership role ensures that façade systems are designed, engineered, manufactured, and installed in alignment with project requirements, budgets, timelines, and safety standards. The director will liaise with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and clients to ensure technical excellence and delivery efficiency.
REQUIREMENTS SUMMARY
- 12+ years of experience in façade design, engineering, procurement, and construction.
- Proven experience in delivering complex façade packages on high-rise, commercial, infrastructure, or public projects.
- Extensive background in managing multidisciplinary teams, façade contractors, and specialist consultants.
- Demonstrated success in leading façade projects from early concept design through to installation and commissioning.
- Deep understanding of façade systems, materials (e.g., glass, aluminium, stone, cladding), and structural performance.
- Familiarity with international façade standards, building codes, and best practices (e.g., CWCT, ASTM, EN standards).
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills with a focus on program delivery and quality.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for working with clients, designers, and contractors.
- Willingness to travel to sites, factories, and offsite testing facilities as required.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing and integration of façades with main works.
ROLE COMPETENCIES & ACTIVITIES
The Façade Project Director responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Project Leadership
- Lead and manage façade project teams from inception to completion.
- Act as the key point of contact for all façade-related matters across multiple projects.
- Provide strategic directions for façade engineering, procurement, and installation activities.
Design & Engineering Coordination
- Oversee the design process, ensuring aesthetic intent and technical performance are met.
- Coordinate with architects, façade consultants, and structural engineers to validate system feasibility and performance
Procurement & Contract Management
- Collaborate with procurement teams to source façade materials and subcontractors.
- Evaluate vendor capabilities and ensure compliance with quality, cost, and schedule criteria.
Construction Oversight
- Monitor façade installation works on-site, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Resolve site issues related to façade systems in collaboration with project managers and subcontractors.
Budget & Schedule Control
- Prepare and manage façade budgets, forecasts, and schedules.
- Track progress and report on performance metrics, risks, and issues.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure façade works comply with local building codes, fire safety regulations, and environmental standards.
- Implement robust quality control systems for design, production, and installation stages.
Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
- Participate in progress meetings and present façade strategies and updates.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- 12+ years of experience in façade design, engineering, and project management.
- Proven track record in delivering complex façade projects in high-rise, commercial, or institutional sectors.
- Strong understanding of materials (glass, aluminum, steel, cladding systems), structural performance, and thermal/moisture behavior.
- Knowledge of relevant façade standards and regulations (e.g., ASTM, EN, NFPA, ISO).
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and façade software (AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, etc.).
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple large-scale projects under pressure.
- High attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety and quality.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline.
- PMP, RIBA, or similar project management or professional designations.
- Safety certifications (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH) are an advantage.
