Job Description
The post holder will manage the development of bids and presentations. They will work closely with bid leads and other stakeholders to drive delivery of submissions and presentations. The goal for this position is to provide input to the bid process and provide clients with clearly differentiated proposals that demonstrate why they should work with Turner & Townsend.
Responsibilities
- Reviewing RFPs and advising bid lead on requirements that impact Bid/No Bid decision
- Develop the bid plan including developing win themes with bid lead
- Facilitate bid Kick Off meetings with bid team and technical leads
- Proactively manage the end-to-end bid and review process while ensuring all contributors understand expectations for content and timelines
- Incorporate local knowledge, evidence/research and adhere to writing style/branding
- Ensure submissions are targeted to their audience, consisting of an evidence base and innovative approach and strategy, as advised by experts across the organisation and best practice
- Customise pen profiles and CV content to better position our proposed team aligned to bid specifics
- Proofing and editing bid response documents, ensuring the submitted information demonstrates a compelling proposition that meets the client’s needs
- Make sure governance process is followed, including Risk Management process and fee sign off/approvals
- Review and amend draft bid considering feedback from peers and Directors
- Ensure bids are fully compliant to clients’ exact requirements by effectively reviewing bid documents as well as showcasing our abilities and experience.
- Create presentations for post-tender interviews, using combination of bid submission content and tailored content as required
- Support wider team in pipeline management activities and contribute to board reporting on pipeline, conversion, and lessons learnt
- Following submission of bid, extract key information from tender to improve best practice collateral and marketing usage
Key skills and behaviours
- Proactive, clear and professional communication with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to contribute to bid/pursuit strategy and influence senior technical and commercial leaders including challenging/questioning thinking or strategy when necessary to add value to the process
- Experience in taking responsibility for managing their work and working with minimal supervision to achieve the outcomes required for the team
- Critical thinking skills to consistently develop, manage and deliver high quality bids and content on time
- Strong writing ability in English including:
- Critically assessing existing content and editing to be more concise and persuasive, harmonising tone of voice and ensuring consistency of language and terminology
- Writing original non-technical content for Executive Summaries and other sections where needed
- Proof reading skills with a keen eye for accuracy and detail
- Time management – able to work on multiple submissions simultaneously
Qualifications
- Relevant degree in an Engineering discipline or Business, Marketing, English (list not exhaustive)
- Expertise in MS Office suite, skilled in Microsoft PowerPoint (required) and a design-based software such as InDesign (preferred)
- APMP Foundation level certification is advantageous but not essential
