Job Description
• Responsible for initiating and developing urban planning projects through completion for assigned projects in conformance with the requirements, applicable codes, and design criteria established by the project’s discipline engineers.
• Leading and preparing presentations and meetings with clients
• Leading and preparing technical bids and proposals including project methodology and scope
• Ability to develop complex urban planning projects and understands codes, permits, and software applications related to the discipline covering the below:
- Strategic planning and visioning
- Policy Planning and Regulatory Planning
- Sectoral Planning (industrial, rural, environmental)
- Spatial Planning / Comprehensive Plans (e.g. regional / sub-regional, structure, local area plans)
- High level socio-economic assessment
- Governance Frameworks and Implementation Plans / Strategies and Planning systems
- Development Controls
- GIS Spatial Analysis
• Develops and evaluates spatial plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities to be carried out by others.
• Assesses the feasibility and soundness of proposed planning products.
• Usually performs as a staff advisor and consultant as to a technical specialty, a type of facility, industry, equipment or program function.
• Monitors and ensures compliance with local, regional and national regulations.
• Oversees specialized planning functions, such as large-scale new development proposals and environmental studies.
• Provides overall management of IE-related planning issues.
• Advises the Planning Director on all planning-related matters.
• Prepares reports on operations and activities, recommending improvements and modifications.
• Fully understands the use of requisitions, and can review/advise on purchase orders and subcontracts.
• Collects data on manpower, man-hour, and labor costs requirements for design staff to aid in evaluating the budget.
• Intermediate knowledge of cost estimating methods and performs material take-offs for the discipline.
