Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Delivery, Development, and Application Support teams to gather detailed functional and non-functional
requirements.
- Author and maintain Software Requirements Specification (SRS) documents for systems being handed over post go-live.
- Develop standardized handover documentation templates and checklists.
- Ensure that all handover deliverables include architecture overviews, configurations, support scenarios, workflows, and known
issues.
- Translate technical specifications, user stories, and configurations into clear, structured documentation.
- Conduct interviews with SMEs and stakeholders to gather undocumented knowledge relevant to support.
- Review existing documentation and align with QMS and ITSM standards.
- Ensure documentation adheres to audit, compliance, and traceability requirements.
- Support periodic reviews and updates of documentation to reflect system changes or new releases.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Technical Communication, or related field.
- Exceptional writing and organizational skills.
- Strong understanding of software delivery lifecycle and production support environments.
Experience
- 5+ years as a Technical Writer in IT, software, or enterprise environments.
- Proven experience developing SRS or technical handover documents.
- Background in working within Agile, DevOps, or Waterfall delivery models.
Technical Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Confluence, JIRA, or documentation management systems.
- Familiarity with SRS, BRD, and technical design documentation standards.
- Experience with diagramming tools like Visio, Lucidchart, or Draw.io.
- Understanding of APIs, software architecture, and infrastructure basics.
Leadership Skills
- Ability to take ownership of the handover documentation lifecycle.
- Collaborate across departments to enforce standards and drive process improvement.
- Mentor project teams on documentation expectations and SRS structure..
Preferred Certifications
- Certified Technical Writer (e.g., CPTC by STC)
- ITIL Foundation (for understanding support environments)
- ISO 9001 Awareness or CMMI knowledge is a plus
