Job Purpose To provide expert-level engineering support for plant operations, ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient performance of process equipment and systems. The Senior Specialist leads engineering evaluations, supports maintenance strategies, and ensures plant integrity through the implementation of best practices and standards in engineering. Key Accountabilities
- 1. Engineering Technical Support
- Analyze equipment performance and operational data to propose technical improvements.
- Support day-to-day plant issues by conducting troubleshooting and providing long-term engineering solutions.
- Review and approve engineering calculations, data sheets, and MOCs (Management of Change).
- 2. Asset Reliability & Maintenance Optimization
- Lead or participate in reliability studies including Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), FMEA, and RCM.
- Collaborate with reliability and maintenance teams to optimize PM and PdM strategies.
- Propose upgrades or replacement of equipment based on lifecycle cost analysis.
- 3. Project and Modification Support
- Provide technical input on brownfield and improvement projects.
- Ensure engineering deliverables are aligned with plant needs, design codes, and regulatory standards.
- Support the preparation of scopes of work and technical evaluations for engineering packages.
- 4. Turnaround and Shutdown Engineering
- Prepare detailed equipment scopes for shutdowns and turnarounds.
- Work with inspection and maintenance teams during execution for technical decision-making and quality control.
- 5. Compliance, Safety, and Risk Management
- Ensure all engineering activities adhere to EHSS requirements and international standards (API, ASME, ANSI, etc.).
- Review PSM-critical elements and ensure compliance with risk management practices.
- Participate in HAZOPs, HAZIDs, SIL assessments, and PSSR processes.
6. Documentation and Continuous Improvement
Maintain engineering records, redline drawings, and plant modification history.
Contribute to lessons learned databases and continuous improvement initiatives.
Train and mentor junior engineers and support development programs.
Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering
Experience: Minimum of 10–15 years in a plant or technical engineering role in process industries (phosphate/fertilizer, oil & gas, petrochemical preferred)
Certifications: API/ASME knowledge preferred; SAP or CMMS experience is an advantage

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Leadership in cross-functional environments
Fluent in English; Arabic is a plus
