Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor daily construction activities to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify unsafe acts or conditions.
- Enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure proper signage is in place.
- Deliver safety inductions and toolbox talks to new and existing workers.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses; prepare detailed reports and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate safety records, including inspection logs, incident reports, and training documentation.
- Assist in the development and review of site-specific safety plans and method statements.
- Liaise with site supervisors, contractors, and regulatory authorities on all safety-related matters.
- Ensure compliance with local and international construction safety standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001).
- Support emergency response planning and drills.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional safety certifications such as NEBOSH, OSHA 30-Hour, or equivalent (required).
- 2–5 years of proven experience as a Safety Officer in the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of construction operations and site hazards.
- Excellent observational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage safety responsibilities across multiple teams.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with construction equipment and machinery safety.
- First Aid/CPR certified.
- Strong leadership and training abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office and safety software tools.
