Role Purpose
To manage and provide operational oversight for PMO activities, by ensuring effective projects execution, within set KPIs, agreed budgets and adopted policies and procedures as well as applicable regulatory requirements.

Key Activities
Planning & Strategy
- Contribute to the design and implementation of the department’s strategy and roadmap by providing function-specific inputs
- Establish and implement the function’s operational plans in support of the department’s overall strategic plan and KPIs
Budget
- Participate in PMO Department annual budgeting cycle and process
- Contribute to utilizing PMO Department’s budget effectively, and report accurately on progress made and challenges encountered
- Investigate and propose implementing strategies that result in positive financial impact for SANS and mitigate financial and operational risks
Project Management
- Oversee all new project initiation requests to ensure their alignment with SANS’ mandates and priorities, confirm proposed scope of work and objectives, and validate interdependencies, project priority, key performance indicators, timeline, milestones, and budget allocations
- Lead the execution of a PMO governance, reporting and review framework to provide a holistic view of all organizational project activity
- Ensure the provision of project management support to stakeholders including guidance on Project Management framework's governance, tools, guidelines, and vendor selection criteria
- Support effective marketing communications and campaigns
- Define the PMO strategy and lead the design and implementation of a common project management methodology, standards and tools to drive and facilitate the successful delivery of projects
- Monitor SANS' projects' adherence to project management, project governance and control, and status reporting frameworks to ensure all undertaken projects are consistently and continuously managed, tracked, and reported across the organization using dashboards and key performance indicators
- Control project risks and the development of risk mitigation activities in collaboration with the relevant internal stakeholders.
Performance Management
- Monitor the organizational changes through sets of KPIs and improved analytics within SANS and ensure that they are in-line with best practices
- Develop and manage the performance management system in order to measure SANS’ performance through the use of appropriate tools and mechanisms (i.e. Balanced Scorecard BSC, etc.)
- Direct and guide SANS departments in setting targets, measuring performance, and other related activities
- Ensure that SANS departments are notified ahead of time on KPIs that are not meeting the stated targets and ensure they understand the implications of not meeting the targets
Policies, Processes and Procedures
- Propose improvements to PMO Department’s policies, and ensure the implementation of procedures and controls across all areas of activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering high quality and cost-effective results
- Monitor day-to-day activities to ensure compliance with stipulated policies and procedures
- Stimulate subordinates and contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems and processes taking into account leading practices, changes in business environment, cost reduction and productivity improvement
People Management
- Manage, guide and assist direct reports to perform their functional operations in accordance with set policies and procedures
- Participate in identifying and recruiting key talent for PMO Department
- Promote a high-performance working environment embracing SANS’s values
Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum of 9 years of experience in Project Management, with at least 6 years of experience in a managerial position
- Considerable knowledge of Air Navigation and CNS / ATM Systems is required
Education and Certifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Electrical Engineering or equivalent is required
