The MEP Estimation Engineer is responsible for evaluating and estimating the costs of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in construction projects. This includes preparing BOQs, analyzing supplier and subcontractor quotations, and ensuring technical compliance with local and international codes. The role supports bid preparation and contributes to optimizing project cost strategies.
Detailed Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review and interpret mechanical, electrical, and plumbing system drawings and specifications.
- Prepare accurate quantity take-offs and detailed BOQs for HVAC, fire fighting, plumbing, drainage, and electrical systems.
- Validate design compliance and coordinate with the technical office.
- Conduct cost breakdown analysis for materials, labor, equipment, and overheads.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from vendors and subcontractors.
- Perform comparative cost evaluations to select cost-effective solutions.
- Develop multiple pricing scenarios based on technical and commercial options.
- Prepare accurate financial proposals including warranties and risk considerations.
- Maintain updated pricing data for MEP equipment and materials.
- Ensure compliance with codes such as NEC, ASHRAE, NFPA, and local regulations.
- Coordinate with the planning team for cost-duration integration.
- Assist the proposal team in preparing technical submission files.
- Support legal and contracts departments in preparing MEP-specific clauses.
- Provide risk assessment and project feasibility inputs.
- Analyze pricing differences between previous and current MEP projects.
