Job Purpose:
To evaluate hazardous chemicals, physical conditions, and unsafe practices in the workplace, and to develop effective control measures and continuous monitoring systems. The goal is to promote a safe and healthful, accident-free work environment in full compliance with applicable industry standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Assess health risks by identifying and analyzing occupational health hazards, workers’ exposure, and their vulnerabilities.
• Perform baseline Industrial Hygiene surveys and periodic surveys of workplace as needed to identify and evaluate potential workers’ health risks.
• Review and maintain policies and procedures in compliance with legal requirements, industry standards and best practice.
• Provide technical support for operation departments re-Industrial Hygiene activities and ensure compliance with guidelines and requirements and recommend engineering or administrative controls where applicable.
• Conduct industrial hygiene surveys as per request in term of compliance (Chemical hazards, illumination, heat stress, noise, ventilation, etc.).
• Prepares reports on Industrial Hygiene assessments/surveys with findings and associated recommendations.
• Conduct and implement hazard communication program which including review and update hazard communication material (SDS, MHB, Label).
• Training and educating the employees and contractors about job related risks.
• Investigating and examining the workplace for identifying and eliminating occupational health hazards.
• Maintain industrial hygiene instruments and calibration records. Ensure all instruments are calibrated and ready to use.
• Evaluate and validate sampling results of assessments and industrial hygiene services provided by third party.
• Review plans for new operations and significant changes to ongoing operations that involve hazardous materials or carcinogens.
• Perform/carry out any other duties that may be requested by Occupational Health Section Head
Minimum Requirements:
• Minimum of 5 years related experience in a similar industry (Oil & Petrochemical plants experience).
• Bachelor’s degree in industrial Hygiene, Engineering or equivalent.
• Certification from recognized HSSE organization such as from Board for Global EHS Credentialing (Certified Industrial Hygiene (CIH)) and/or from British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) or equivalent will be an added advantage.
• Professional membership or association with and international HSSE organizations (OSHA, ACGIH, IOSH, AIHA, IEMA, etc.) is preferred.
