Job Purpose
The Planning Engineer, major maintenance instrument III is a highly experienced professional responsible for the detailed planning, scheduling, and resource coordination of all instrumentation and control system work packages within an industrial plant or facility. The role is pivotal in ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of complex instrument maintenance activities, minimizing downtime, and maximizing asset reliability for critical plant infrastructure.
Key Accountabilities Develops detailed work scopes, job plans, and execution strategies for major maintenance activities, turnarounds, and shutdowns. Creates comprehensive schedules using advanced planning software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project), identifying critical paths and potential bottlenecks. Estimates required resources, including labor (in-house and contractors), materials, equipment, and special tools. Prepares requisitions for materials and services, coordinating with procurement to ensure timely delivery. Collaborates closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and external contractors to define requirements and ensure alignment. Ensures all planning activities comply with safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies.Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation & Control, or a related engineering discipline.
- Substantial experience in instrumentation and control engineering within a heavy process industry (e.g., petrochemical, oil & gas, refining, power generation) in a large industrial complex.
Minimum Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, or reliability engineering.
